Following in the Footsteps of Jesus is a group of young people united with the mission of serving the youth development personally and/or collectively. They promote participation and development of young people within the church through activities that are attractive for their age in different ways, ways that are dynamic and social activities. The goal is to show a living, loving and merciful Christ.

The group defines itself as follows:

"We are a group of young leaders, and this group was created years ago in search of Jesus Christ to follow his footsteps in a fun, lively, and joyful manner.

The purpose of our foundation is to give young people of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos™, who are 15 years and older, (considered to be vulnerable because of their age) values which support their personality and also a group of friends. Also, it is meant to create a framework in which young people could have a good time in a healthy way and at the same time deepen their knowledge of our Almighty God both personally as well as with the people around them.

Our group works in different areas of the home like in helping with the planning of Mass, performing community work, cleaning the environment, visiting nursing homes and supporting our communities in other various ways.

Christmas means to us the celebration of the birth of Jesus. During this time, as a ministry, they present lectures, make presentations and perform in plays that carry a positive message to the whole family. Last Christmas, we took care of organizing the great bonfire on Dec. 31. Days before we looked for firewood and assembled a large pile of wood for the campfire and all of our children were sitting around it roasting marshmallows while making wishes for the New Year and sharing the experience with family. Also, we ensured everyone's safety during the fire. This year we will implement social exchanges with other youth groups from different churches, and our community program will focus on cleaning public places since people throw out a lot of waste due to parties.

We want to discover the love and service to God and our neighbor as the Gospel proposes. This is our path to happiness. We want to have the hope that everything is possible in our lives, and that every young person has the ability to make any wonderful thing he or she wants. We want to discover our great talents, gifts and abilities to show to the world. We also want to discover our own current values and acquire new values in our lives."

Inspired by Christian values, this group of about 20 young people promotes the leadership values of love and sharing. Where the main objective is to target the slightly older pequeños, their mission leaves an impact across all ages.

Eduardo, the main leader of the group, remembers Christmas before coming to NPH as a time when he used to eat chicken and spend time with his brothers working on engines for fun to have a little money to buy sweets. Currently, Eduardo is completing his year of service in the visitors’ house, and in the coordination of community support groups. He has plans to travel to Honduras to carry out his first leadership course.

Thanks to the founders and leaders of this important group, whose aim is to empower young people to do great things for their brothers and sisters and their community, is based on one of the best examples of leadership and service, Jesus.
