15th Anniversary celebration with National Directors from each of the 9 homes.

This year, Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos Dominican Republic (NPH DR) is celebrating its 15th year anniversary! NPH DR kicked off this milestone year by holding the annual NPH International Meeting in mid-February. During the meetings, NPH DR hosted many activities and meetings for a diverse NPH family representing more than 13 different countries.

The purpose of these meetings was for NPH International Operations, General Assembly and Board members to gather together to strategize the present and future of NPH programs in Latin America and the Caribbean.

One main focus was the increasing support that NPH will provide to children and families living in the community, sparking excitement from the group in their discussions.

The attendees were also able to learn a little bit about Dominican culture at the NPH DR home, as many celebrations were held throughout the week. The first of these was Noche Dominicana (‘Dominican Night’). This provided the National Directors from all nine countries the opportunity to dance Bachata, eat Sancocho, a traditional Dominican food, and spend time with the children of the home.

There was a 15th Anniversary celebration to end the long week of meetings. This celebration brought together our National Directors, General Assembly and Board, Sponsors, Padrinos (Godparents), and other friends and family.

After celebrating mass, Reinhart Koehler, NPHI Board President, shared a speech congratulating the NPH Dominican Republic for 15 beautiful years, and shared with youth, employees and volunteers, "I want to give thanks to God, to have inspired Fr. Wasson, and to thank Fr. Wasson for having created this beautiful family, that began with a profound act of love and forgiveness...We are family because your failures and successes are our failures and successes. Your sadness and happiness is our sadness and happiness."

As a closing to all the learning, progress and celebrations, NPH DR held an important event, celebrating the outstanding work and partnership of 'Our Little Brothers and Sisters', which was the first fundraising office started by Frank and Polly Krafft 50 years ago. Stories were shared, cake was eaten, and memories were made, all held in Polly Park at the Dominican home, named after Polly.

After all the meetings finished and the celebrations came to a close, the team members left inspired, and with a renewed sense of gratitude to be part of this caring, international family.
